Trust in this thorn
this affliction
and its virtue
though to be sure
what doesn't kill you
can sure as hell
still hurt you
But you might figure out
whether you love
the hill or the stone
It's not my sunniest thought
but Jesus thrown me a bone
The mysteries
of what works
and what fails
Still out in the forest
hard at work
with my sap pails
how the hell do you get
worse
having gotten what you want
But I know I'll never
pull this thorn
except that I come in
hard and blunt
