2.5163 : 6/22/19 : Spoke

This spoke
on the distinctly
non-perpetual
wheel
can't seem to
sever the knot
or get the
dream train
real

2.4737 : 4/22/18 : Narrative

Dream to take control
of the narrative
and wrestle it away
from the tired refrain
not this time
around it seems
but tomorrow
I might catch that train
but I don't know
how the next story goes
and maybe that's
the real tale
the devil you know
and the details
where he dwells
where it always
goes off the rail

2.4714 : 3/30/18 : Train

Might as well
chock one more car
on this train
of thoughts
whatever those are
up in my brain
this pattern
well it's none too
inspiring
but it's small fry
to that over
which I'm perspiring

2.4659 : 2/3/18 : Hump Yard

Trains play rude jazz
in the Nordeast
squawks and squeals
from the hump yard
I shouldn't be doing
these wilding nights at my age
but something's
telling me to go hard
Rewatch the classic
a day late
knowing history will bear me out
I'll be surprised as you
to find out what's my thing
and oh the broken mystery
will tear the shroud

2.4490 : 8/18/17 : Tram

The little tram goes everywhere
the claustro halls
the halls of air
magnetic electric
near silent of course
superevolution of the iron horse
scary fast sling like a bee
and in this mind
naturally free
so many places to journey within
can only explore on this margin, thin
but for all the days
are not unlimited
get a lot of dipping
in the well unlimited

2.4282 : 1/22/17 : Alternative Facts

Day 3 in the realm
of alternative facts
I've downed my share
and my amazing acts
of daring in mind
of generous words
a prince among tasters
in the first age of the nerds
I'll be an iconoclast
demand evidence
a train of logic
and things making sense
no doubt become an outcast
crying in the waste
imagining the real alternative
as the age batters truth to paste

2.4122 : 8/15/16 : Mundane

Guess I got domesticated
mundane
can't get attached
to the old crazy train
radical trips
or Foxfire dreams
thinking maybe it's all
pretty much what it seems
what can anybody do
but stand upright
remembering times long gone
and what's left of old insight

2.4114 : 8/7/16 : Bad & Ugly

Made it maybe halfway
didn't make it to the cannon
the train, the prison chorus
led by false lights
led by mammon
the destruction of the bridge
ecstasy among the tombstones
guess I've learned it well enough
guess I got it in my bones
the defeat of bad and ugly
who doesn't want that joint
though I saw half just in memory
that was well beside the point

2.3712 : 7/2/15 : On the Spectrum (Endless Axis 445/500)

On the spectrum of
what you've got to work with
I'm in no place to complain
Keep focus on
the sunny thought
a straight track a short train
I could extend it
to all the earth
We ought to pull up our slouch
What would it
really take these days
to eject us off the couch

2.3436 : 9/29/14 : Joyful Noise (Endless Axis 169/500)

Grace of joyful noise
geese, then trains
Such seasons
Such old salt in the veins
of sounds
the fire to be their magician
to be an artisan
to become a musician
In all the world
On every stoop
my betters make a joyful noise
escapes the better coop
the oppression of
the clanging gong
lift up their vigils
and may their nights be long

2.3201 : 2/6/14 : Jack of All Ports

No signs, no visions
no relief in any superstitions
Yet it seems that you
refuse to sell me out
impossible, invisible
every day fearing the rout
craving routine
and so out of sorts
fed up with the charge
to be jack of all ports
is this an adventure
or aquatic train wreck
is this terribly clever
or a shambles in dreck?

2.3086 : 10/14/13 : Spiral

Smiley on the train
to the click clack box
the man's third life
and the third death unlocks
the ectoplasm from
nostril and mouth
smiley on the train
returns south
The fourth life
meanwhile another man
awakes in a new life
an unnatural span
Confusion in the stockyards
fall into a new past
It's spiral within spiral
but none will last

2.2806 : 01/07/13 : 2nd Protocol

Second protocol
this one gonna make it all
like I dreamed six years ago
ain't gonna take it
no more no
When I yank that stitch up
gonna yell for sure
but this trains got to hitch up
and my motive's pure

2.2781 : 12/13/12 : A Thousand

A thousand things to do
and nothing pays
am I going to think of that
another thousand days
When I piece it out like that
it doesn't seem so much
Still well shy of ten
since when I lost my magic touch
hell I cannot ride this train
a minute more
fueled by fear and distrust
of just what's in store
So afraid of dying
by the thousand cuts
time to grasp the nettle
and this time, no buts

2.2758 : 11/20/12 : These Days

Sure of these days
I was very clearly told
they even guaranteed they'd strike
before I was quite old
They even told me I'd be
surprised despite the warning
but no one could explain
the way I'd feel that next morning
no use in getting mad
anyway we can't afford it
if there's only one train out
What use to refuse to board it
these days I have to ask
Is it really any new trouble
or just that it's our turn now
to draw a black spot and get it double

2.2637 : 7/22/12 : Brainless

Having secured the high ground
our wise brigade
Is all het up
to drum on up
one hell of a parade
the new age slogan
that makes us so hale and hearty
is the unironic token
of the brainless optimism party
We're getting robot cars
a bullet train that spans the nation
We're ending global warming
and we still all get a great vacation
we're getting rid of crime and legalizing weed
we're even gonna put
the eggheads on a cure for greed
we're gonna go to Mars
and sends robots to Jupiter
We're tearing superstition down
and raising up a lucid cheer
nobody wants war
everyone wants peace
we're kicking down your stupid smack
hell yeah we bought
this age a new lease

2.2615 : 6/30/12 : Hobby

This train of thought feels like a hobby horse
this chain of ought always feeling off course
this getting drawn into the culture war scrums
logs getting sawn and here I'm twiddling my thumbs
I don't need a hobby, I need a fucking job
show me where to lobby, what kind of bomb to lob
nobody is fit to save this race of utter fools
no one has the bravery, no one has the tools
no one has my answer I am hung out on my own
beating every chance out of the hobby horse I own
seems I need a sharp turn and a different track
snap the strings of my harp throw it on the
smouldering stack

2.2294 : 08/14/11 : Memory Train

Where is the memory train
getting me tonight?
a feeling like no progress
all but starting over
where is the money train
to make it all all right?
it's all cheddar baby
it's all plums and clover
I lost my train of thought
or did I really have one?
maybe it's all just twitch
a current through a pithed limb
get on board or
whatever you think will be fun
better than remembering
and memory's hollow hymn

2.2264 : 07/15/11 : Fabulous

Oh to be vicious shallow and mean
so fabulous an acquisition machine
against my nature just so nice and clean
except for the mean streak, except for the spleen
oh to be a winner, a crusher of souls
I know where I always land in these roles
You take the gold I'll take the holes
I only want a little bit of control
Don't even have the wit to carry this through
and every little fantasy I accrue
stay on the back of the train and enjoy the view
And you all just go stay fabulous you

2.2077 : 01/09/11 : The Solipsist

Come on all you faithful and gather round
for this story that's been firmly screwed in the ground
or a couple thousand days in case you missed
the pitiful spectacle of the solipsist
the thrill ridden times of that brave little shit
who couldn't get good enough but would just not quit
should it sound familiar well for fuck's sake
because we've strung it out about as long as I could take
and I suddenly discover it's not funny anymore
when every door looks like a dead end, every dead drop like a door
the solipsist if you'll excuse is feeling slightly ill
I know he promised you more of he same but really, still
if only and if only we could break outside
jump a freight like old times and take a ride
but the world these days reminds me of a closed tight fist
and there's nothing new under the sun for the solipsist
