2.5255 : 9/22/19 : Long Walk (The Experiment: 90/100)

Seeing hints of
one long journey ending
these parallel strands
Can get mind bending
Superstition makes me
want to see a turning point
the next day's sameness
I'll surely pay in every joint
Cultivate in the kingdom
maybe made sense way back
A couple hundred B.C. man
What would you make
of this time track?
The clever gadgets omnipresent
far too many
to keep as uncarved blocks
like a hell of complexity
see no solution
but a hundred long walks

2.3652 : 5/3/15 : Search the Sky (Endless Axis 385/500)

Just apply a frame
the Sunday box
pews just the same
now something looser
ceilings high
Still I still I
Search the sky
Sought for traces
secret signs
Some called
superstitious anodynes
sought techniques
to amplify
still and yet
I search the sky

2.3347 : 7/2/14 : The Battlefield (Endless Axis 80/500)

Life is a battle
death is a journey
the way that I see it
I'm no rules attorney
Everyone got angry
shook a fist
when I said he won his battle
escaped into the mist
fearing death
is a superstition
getting off the battlefield's
a holy mission
it does not require death
but you must accept it
that was my secret
until now I kept it

2.3291 : 5/7/14 : Negative Space (Endless Axis 24/500)

Yay upbeat prose
Yay outline I'm drawing
negative space around
this plank I'm sawing
not quite a snapshot
of the inner state
but that's kind of the point
and it's sincerely great
yay for the shattering
of superstition
yay for refinement
of this moral mission
I put this to you
if the pith's unspoken
am I lying?
Is the contract broken?

2.3201 : 2/6/14 : Jack of All Ports

No signs, no visions
no relief in any superstitions
Yet it seems that you
refuse to sell me out
impossible, invisible
every day fearing the rout
craving routine
and so out of sorts
fed up with the charge
to be jack of all ports
is this an adventure
or aquatic train wreck
is this terribly clever
or a shambles in dreck?

2.3192 : 1/28/14 : Thaw

Have to be satisfied to start
with a thaw without
a change in temperature
feel free to scoff and doubt
another inward thing
called it a mental state
call it a spiritual thaw
roll my eyes mutter great
a superstitious scrap
said it was two years hence
the ship the thunderclap
the pole to vault the fence
want it to all melt now
none of this bitter wait
maybe within I'll cultivate
myself a fluid state

2.3188 : 1/24/14 : Magic Number

Grant me release from superstition
Oh great spirit of the heavens
for I have forsaken honey
for I have forgone all leavens
Grant me just one lucky number
One key to the rest of all of it
One key to the damn door out of here
One pole for to vault this wall of shit
Shouldn't I just cheer up up already
stop acting as if I've had a hard time
acting like I deserve lucky breaks
acting like it's my lucky card time
there's no luck and there's no magic
nothing's meant to be, nothing's special
everything running on the same crazy engine
every day potentially one fresh hell

2.3147 : 12/14/13 : White Flag

Is that a battle cry
or a white flag
we're all mixed up
by the white stag
sure fairytales sure
superstition
but the longing persists
and dreams of sweet fruition

2.3133 : 11/30/13 : Just World

To reject superstition
must I allow there is no just world
pity my poor cranium
against that blank brick wall I heaved and hurled
am I an unrefined hick
can't fathom justice not delivered from on high
and injustice is manifest
and our ideals seem twelve times further than the sky
the worm turns again
move fool I used to think it mattered which way
another purge of the system
and all superstitious it is for a fresh start I'll pray

2.2990 : 07/10/13 : 555

I'm partial to sixes, nines, and twelves
I used to say the answers
Could be on the shelves
I know a thing or two about nineteen
there was as song
oh - it was just like a bright silver screen
between five and thirty four
If someone asks me what
the number's for
I'll say I can't say
but I've got your lucky one
drop a little silver
and I'll net you a plucky one
thirteen seven
got no superstition
but a pretty little spiel
about superposition
quantum uncertainty
and similar hooey
still at five five five
it all goes kablooey
at five five five
all these fates
will line up
and deposit a new
taste
in my dusty cup

2.2983 : 07/3/13 : A Scientist

I cast the stalks down
just to laugh at the result
recalling times when
my poor methods were occult
past superstition
the travails of blame and fault
I'll tear down this riddle
why my spirits and my salt
tease out its components
find its valences and peaks
reel it out and graph it
in its valences and peaks
in those long years passing
though I struggled to resist
in my inmost heart
I must remain a scientist

2.2772 : 12/04/12 : Set

How do you really get
outside the set in ways
a million dollar question sure
but then who pays
past superstition
superficial meaning
such a slow slow harvest
of wisdom I'm gleaning
I would like to please myself
that's no crime
I would like to tell my tale
it's my dime
If no one wants to listen
I'll find a way to cope
as I still grope for the edges
well I've still got hope

2.2685 : 9/8/12 : Any Work Will Do

It cannot be that any
work will do
surely the shovel
digs me no closer to you
It cannot be
but I don't know how to choose
When I feel no matter
what I ever do I lose
It must be wrong
It must be all on me
Some stark command
that I refuse to see
and is that just my
brutal superstitious mind
a useless faith that
is both dumb and blind
nothing but killing time
and getting through
If so I guess that
any work will do

2.2637 : 7/22/12 : Brainless

Having secured the high ground
our wise brigade
Is all het up
to drum on up
one hell of a parade
the new age slogan
that makes us so hale and hearty
is the unironic token
of the brainless optimism party
We're getting robot cars
a bullet train that spans the nation
We're ending global warming
and we still all get a great vacation
we're getting rid of crime and legalizing weed
we're even gonna put
the eggheads on a cure for greed
we're gonna go to Mars
and sends robots to Jupiter
We're tearing superstition down
and raising up a lucid cheer
nobody wants war
everyone wants peace
we're kicking down your stupid smack
hell yeah we bought
this age a new lease

2.1842 : 5/19/10 : Status

Everybody's checking the status
It seems to be okay
knock on wood for now
check a little deeper another day
not what I expected no
Guess that it never is
always these reminders
Not my time, all His
Thank you for the status check in
thanks for asking after
hope in not too much time
I'll refer to it all with laughter

2.1582 : 9/1/09 : Cosmos

Oh the Cosmos, oh, oh the Cosmos
call it curiosity
so many things meant
something to me
prejudice and superstition
that isn’t all there is to it
yet there is something here
a mission
don’t ask me to be your messenger
your bastard
I’ve been hung out
Look at this another
aching night
sick anxious
worn and strung out
but I smile thinking
about the Cosmos
and every crazy thing in it
no matter how long I hold on
five hundred thousand hours
of contemplation
will not show me more
than a tiny bit

2.968 : 12/27/07 : Placebo Effect

If you can just believe in it
If only you suspend your disbelief
this pill will set you all right
and steal away your troubles like a thief
make it red and yellow
make its flavor slightly bitter
capsule filled with hopeless hope
drop it with no babysitter
pity the placebo dependent on my faith
I don’t believe in anything tonight
I do my rituals and don’t really know why
I still believe I’ll know when things are right

2.947 : 12/6/07 : Relic

No relic’s gonna turn the tide
the tables are stacked
too heavy to slide
when the ship tips
when you feel that punch in the gut
I guess you’re probably gonna beat it,
eh what?
Not gonna cast any
more runes or bones
no yarrow stalks
and no holy stones
This one I can do purely
just by stealth
pry the lid off
this pot and share the wealth

2.935 : 11/24/07 : You Again

May I never have to write you down again
May I never need to speak your name
this is the second method
this is how it is when I play the game
Am I singing a song of you, again?
It’s true it’s a story of my whole life
now I am different, now things are better
with my child my home my wife
So I’ll treat you like just a fairy tale
that will vanish with morning dreams
the ghosts and gremlins I will knock away
and send them scrambling up the beams
Yeah I’ll talk large, yeah I’ll be a braggart
knowing tomorrow is a mystery
I’ll stand against your better judgment
I’ll stand despite all contradicting history
And say so long to you again
and say I’ll see you when I do
if we meet again why we shall smile
if not I’ll fondly think of you

2.895 : 10/15/07 : Chasing Transition

3,086 : 20 ?

Chasing transition, transcendence
the same inquisition, dependence
on influx of data the witching hour
the players the haters the hideous power
I’m not on the track here not even close
I try to get back to the critical dose
that rap in the background I’ve heard before
a dismal upbeat sound an open door
chasing translation the upload trip
standing my station on the battling tip
no idea what form the fight will take
stay sharp and keep warm stay on the make
wait for the call superstition said
no plan at all but to keep my head
