So this age is getting run
by mockers and fools
I show up early
try to play by the rules
Limit of my relevance
approaches zero fast
Some my litany may be
fully secret at last
keep the secret:
nobody left to tell
no clear objective for years
probably just as well
persistence becomes easy
habit's inertial drift
and I'd the survival bit gets ugly
There's always shorter shrift
always some scrap to write on
always a pencil stub
who knows what it could come to
You tell me future schlub
maybe even optimism
a renewed lease
one experiment is done
but I must keep saying
me secret piece
