of getting ahead
shimmering mirage
my suspicion instead
I'd be far better off
thinking myself far behind
all but out of the race

the home team made good
and the hometown is happy
might make it a month
color men getting sappy
It'll all get back to baseline
the great wheel will expunge
everyone brace their boots
