Rain symphony forever familiar
never remotely the same
nature who will outlive us all
forever wild and never tame
they hunted water in the desert
they prayed for fire to melt the ice
and in the age of heat and more heat
they counted it as gold in price
we'll pray the mighty river does not dry
we'll fight them trying to pipe it to Vegas
and because irony never dies
in many times and places the rain will plague us
I'll tip my head and smile wide
you'll hear no doleful din from me
just the soft tapping on my skin
in the falling of the rain symphony
