Lack of reward
a devilish riddle
I want my cookie
like a little lickspittle
doing for doing
for doing’s own sake
what’s my motivation
I have no stake
I’ve got a twisted idea
about enlightenment
I’m half resigned to living
in this existential tenement
but I could win through all
being angry, frightened, bored
if I could just work out this knot
